Job description revisions

Today, we're introducing job description revisions. Every edit to a job description now creates a revision — browse the history, compare changes, and restore any previous version in one click.

Job descriptions are rarely a one-person job. Recruiters draft them, hiring managers sharpen them, founders weigh in, and legal sometimes has the final say. Until now, that back-and-forth lived in Slack threads, Google Docs, and memory. If someone rewrote a section you liked, it was gone.

Revisions fix that. Backrow keeps a full history of every change to the job description, so nothing is ever lost.

How it works

  • Automatic snapshots: Every time someone saves an edit to the job description, Backrow captures a revision — who made the change, when, and exactly what changed.
  • Full version history: Open the Revisions panel on any job to see the complete timeline of edits, with author and timestamp on each entry.
  • Restore in one click: Found a version you prefer? Click Restore and the job description reverts to that state. The restore itself is recorded as a new revision, so nothing is ever actually lost.
  • Works across the team: Revisions capture edits from anyone with access — recruiters, hiring managers, and collaborators alike.

Why we built this

Hiring teams told us the same story over and over: someone tightened up the responsibilities section, someone else rewrote it, and now the original phrasing is gone. Or the role shifted mid-process and no one remembered what the job description originally said.

Treating the job description like a versioned document means you can edit boldly without fear. Try a tighter version. Let the hiring manager take a pass. Experiment with the tone. If you preferred last week's wording, it's right there.

Getting started

Revisions are on by default for every job. Open the Job Posting page, click the Revisions button, and you'll see the history start to build as your team makes edits.
